About this exercise

The kettlebell forward lunge (version 2) is a lower-body exercise in which you hold a kettlebell in the goblet position at chest height and step forward into a lunge. Holding the weight at chest level shifts the center of gravity forward, increases core engagement, and trains balance while targeting the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a kettlebell with both hands at chest height in a goblet position, feet hip-width apart
  • Engage your core and keep your chest tall throughout the movement
  • Step forward with one foot into a lunge, lowering your back knee toward the floor
  • Ensure your front knee stays above your ankle and does not cave inward
  • Push through your front heel to return to the starting position
  • Alternate legs and repeat for the desired number of repetitions
