About this exercise

A compound lower-body exercise in which a kettlebell is held in a goblet grip at chest height while the same leg performs a forward lunge immediately followed by a reverse lunge. Holding the weight at the chest increases core demand and helps maintain an upright torso throughout the movement.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a kettlebell vertically at chest height with both hands cupping the horns (goblet grip)
  • Keep your elbows pointed down and your chest tall
  • Step forward with your right foot into a forward lunge, lowering your left knee toward the floor
  • Without pausing, push off the right heel to bring the right leg back and continue directly into a reverse lunge, stepping the right foot behind you
  • Drive through the left foot to return to the standing position — that is one rep
  • Perform all reps on one side before switching, or alternate legs each rep
  • Keep your core braced and the kettlebell close to your chest throughout
