About this exercise

A compound lower-body exercise in which one or two kettlebells are held at the sides while the same leg performs a forward lunge immediately followed by a reverse lunge. The continuous movement challenges the quadriceps, glutes, and hamstrings through a full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a kettlebell in each hand (or one in each hand) with arms at your sides
  • Step forward with your right foot into a forward lunge, lowering your left knee toward the floor
  • Without pausing, push off the right heel to bring the right leg back and continue directly into a reverse lunge, stepping the right foot behind you
  • Drive through the left foot to return to the standing position — that is one rep
  • Perform all reps on one side before switching, or alternate legs each rep
  • Keep your torso upright, chest tall, and core engaged throughout
