About this exercise

A bodyweight chest exercise performed with hands gripping two kettlebell handles on the floor, allowing a deeper range of motion than a standard push-up. The extra depth increases chest stretch at the bottom and recruits the pectorals more fully.

How to Perform

  • Place two kettlebells shoulder-width apart on the floor with the handles parallel to each other
  • Grip the handles firmly and set up in a high plank position with your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Brace your core and keep your elbows tracking at roughly 45 degrees from your torso
  • Lower your chest slowly between the kettlebells, going deeper than you could on the floor
  • Pause briefly at the bottom, feeling a stretch across the chest
  • Press forcefully through the handles to return to the starting position
