MediumGlutesQuadriceps

About this exercise

The kettlebell calf raise and front squat combines two distinct lower-body movements into a single flowing sequence: a standing calf raise followed immediately by a goblet-style front squat. The combination builds calf strength, quadriceps power, and full lower-body endurance while the goblet hold keeps the torso upright and the core engaged throughout.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a kettlebell at chest height in the goblet position with both hands
  • Rise up onto the balls of your feet performing a calf raise, keeping your core braced and your weight centered
  • Hold the top of the calf raise for a moment
  • Lower your heels back to the floor under control
  • Immediately descend into a front squat by bending your knees and pushing your hips back while keeping your torso upright and the kettlebell close to your chest
  • Squat until your thighs are parallel to the floor or as deep as your mobility allows
  • Drive through your heels to return to the full standing position
  • Repeat the calf raise and squat sequence for the desired number of repetitions
