About this exercise

The kettlebell bent press is an advanced unilateral movement in which you press a kettlebell overhead by bending laterally and rotating under it rather than pushing straight up. It requires exceptional shoulder mobility, core strength, and total-body coordination, making it one of the most technically demanding kettlebell skills.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width and hold a kettlebell in one hand at shoulder height in the rack position
  • Initiate the movement by tilting your torso laterally away from the working arm while keeping the kettlebell stationary
  • Place your free hand on the corresponding thigh for support as you rotate and descend
  • Continue bending and rotating until the kettlebell arm is fully extended overhead
  • Keep your eyes on the kettlebell throughout the movement
  • Drive back to an upright position by reversing the motion, using your lateral and core muscles
  • Lower the kettlebell back to the rack position and repeat, then switch arms
