About this exercise

The kettlebell bent-over row is a compound pulling exercise that builds thickness in the lats and mid-back while also engaging the biceps and lower back stabilizers. Holding a hip-hinge position throughout the set keeps constant tension on the posterior chain.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding a kettlebell in each hand with a neutral grip
  • Push your hips back and hinge forward until your torso is roughly parallel to the floor
  • Keep a neutral spine, chest up, and core braced
  • Let the kettlebells hang directly beneath your shoulders
  • Drive your elbows back and up, rowing both kettlebells toward your lower ribcage
  • Squeeze your shoulder blades together at the top of the movement
  • Lower the kettlebells in a controlled manner back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
