About this exercise

The kettlebell Arnold press is a shoulder exercise that combines a forearm rotation with an overhead press, targeting all three heads of the deltoid through a greater range of motion than a standard press. Named after Arnold Schwarzenegger, it is a staple move for complete shoulder development.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hold two kettlebells at shoulder height with palms facing toward you
  • Press the kettlebells upward while simultaneously rotating your wrists outward
  • At full arm extension, palms should face forward
  • Lower the kettlebells back to shoulder height, reversing the rotation so palms face you again
  • Keep your core braced and avoid arching your lower back
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
