About this exercise

The kettlebell alternating renegade row is a full-body exercise combining a plank hold with an alternating rowing motion. Performed on two kettlebells, it simultaneously trains the upper back, biceps, and deep core stabilizers while demanding total-body tension to resist rotation.

How to Perform

  • Place two kettlebells on the floor shoulder-width apart and assume a push-up position gripping both handles
  • Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels with feet wider than hip-width for stability
  • Brace your core and squeeze your glutes to prevent hip rotation
  • Row one kettlebell up toward your hip by driving your elbow back and keeping it close to your body
  • Lower the kettlebell back to the floor with control
  • Repeat on the opposite side, maintaining a stable plank throughout
  • Alternate sides for the desired number of repetitions, minimizing any rotation or hip sway
