About this exercise

The kettlebell alternating press on floor is a chest exercise performed lying on your back, pressing one kettlebell at a time while the other rests on the chest. The floor limits the range of motion at the bottom, protecting the shoulders, while the alternating pattern challenges core stability and unilateral chest strength.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on the floor with a kettlebell in each hand resting at chest level, palms facing forward
  • Brace your core and keep your feet flat on the floor
  • Press one kettlebell straight up until your arm is fully extended
  • Lower it back to the chest in a controlled manner
  • As the first kettlebell returns, begin pressing the other arm upward
  • Continue alternating arms in a smooth, controlled rhythm
  • Keep the non-pressing arm resting at chest level and your lower back neutral throughout
