About this exercise

The jumping single leg lunge is a plyometric lower-body exercise that explosively drives off one leg from a lunge position to build power, balance, and cardiovascular endurance. It challenges the quadriceps and glutes unilaterally while demanding core stability for safe landings.

How to Perform

  • Begin in a lunge position with one foot forward and the back knee hovering just above the floor
  • Drive explosively through the front foot, propelling yourself off the ground
  • Keep the same foot forward and land softly back into the lunge position, absorbing the impact by bending the knee
  • Land with control, ensuring the front knee tracks over the toes
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
  • Maintain an upright torso and engaged core throughout
