About this exercise

An explosive power exercise combining a vertical jump with a forceful shoulder shrug at the top. It develops triple extension of the ankles, knees, and hips while also engaging the upper traps, making it a useful progression toward Olympic lifting movements.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent and hips pushed back into an athletic stance
  • Take a quick dip by bending your knees further and lowering your hips
  • Explosively drive through the floor, extending your hips, knees, and ankles simultaneously
  • As your feet leave the ground, shrug your shoulders forcefully up toward your ears
  • Keep your arms straight throughout the movement
  • Land softly with bent knees to absorb the impact
  • Reset to the starting position and repeat
