About this exercise

The Horse Stance Squat is a wide-stance bodyweight squat performed with feet significantly wider than shoulder-width and toes pointing outward. It targets the inner thighs, quadriceps, and glutes while improving hip mobility and lower-body stability.

How to Perform

  • Stand with your feet approximately twice shoulder-width apart, toes angled outward at 45 degrees
  • Engage your core and keep your chest tall throughout the movement
  • Push your knees out in line with your toes as you lower into the squat
  • Descend until your thighs are parallel to the floor or lower
  • Hold the bottom position briefly, feeling the stretch in your inner thighs
  • Press through both feet evenly to return to the starting position
