About this exercise

The bent-knee Hip Raise, also known as the Glute Bridge, is a foundational bodyweight exercise performed on the floor. It targets the glutes and hamstrings by driving the hips upward from a supine position, making it suitable for all fitness levels.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Place your arms flat at your sides, palms facing down
  • Brace your core and squeeze your glutes
  • Drive through your heels to lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees
  • Hold the top position for one to two seconds, keeping glutes fully contracted
  • Slowly lower your hips back to the floor
  • Reset and repeat for the desired number of reps
