About this exercise

The high knee lunge on a Bosu ball is an advanced plyometric exercise that combines a lunge with an explosive high-knee drive, performed with one foot on the unstable dome surface. The instability of the Bosu ball challenges balance and proprioception while the high knee drive trains power and coordination. It develops unilateral leg strength, explosive hip flexion, and core stability simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Place one foot on the centre of the Bosu ball dome-side up and step the other foot back into a lunge position
  • Find your balance and stand tall with your core braced
  • Lower into the lunge by bending both knees until the back knee nearly touches the floor
  • Explosively drive upward, pushing off the Bosu ball and driving the back knee high toward your chest
  • Land softly back into the starting lunge position with control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
