About this exercise

A skill-based bodyweight pressing exercise where you perform handstand push-ups with hands placed on two flat benches positioned parallel to each other near a wall. The elevated hand position allows the head to descend well below hand level, giving a significantly greater range of motion than floor handstand push-ups.

How to Perform

  • Place two flat benches parallel to each other, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, with one end close to a wall
  • Face the wall, place one hand on each bench, and kick up into a handstand with your feet resting against the wall
  • Stack your body vertically and brace your core and glutes
  • Slowly lower yourself by bending the elbows, allowing your head to descend between and below the level of the benches
  • Press back up explosively until your elbows are fully extended
  • Maintain full-body tension throughout and keep your gaze toward the wall
