About this exercise

The Handstand Hold on Wall is an inverted bodyweight skill exercise where you support yourself on both hands with your feet resting against a wall. It builds shoulder strength and stability, develops body awareness in an inverted position, and serves as a foundational skill for freestanding handstand work.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a wall and place your hands on the floor about 15–20 cm away from the baseboard
  • Kick up one leg at a time, or jump both legs up, until both feet rest flat against the wall
  • Stack your hips directly over your shoulders and keep your arms fully extended and locked
  • Squeeze your glutes and brace your core to maintain a straight body line from wrists to heels
  • Point your toes and press actively through your hands to keep your shoulders engaged
  • Hold the position for the target duration while breathing steadily
  • Lower yourself back down by walking your feet down the wall in a controlled manner
