A neutral-grip pull-up performed using the parallel bars of a dip cage or power rack. The hammer grip reduces stress on the wrists and elbows while powerfully engaging the lats and brachialis, making it a joint-friendly alternative to standard overhand pull-ups.

How to Perform

  • Grip the parallel bars of a dip cage with palms facing each other
  • Hang at full arm extension with shoulders packed and core braced
  • Pull yourself upward by driving your elbows down toward your hips
  • Continue until your chin clears bar level or your chest approaches the bars
  • Hold briefly at the top position
  • Lower yourself with control back to a full hang
