About this exercise

Half Knee Bends are a plyometric drill involving rhythmic partial squats that develop reactive leg strength and muscular endurance without requiring full squat depth. They are commonly used as a warm-up drill or conditioning tool to improve lower-body coordination and power.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Bend your knees to approximately 90 degrees, lowering into a half squat while keeping your chest upright
  • Quickly extend your legs and rise onto the balls of your feet at the top
  • Return to the half-squat position in a controlled bounce and immediately repeat
  • Maintain an engaged core and neutral spine throughout each repetition
