About this exercise

The half chest fly is a bodyweight chest isolation exercise performed on the floor that works through the inner half of the fly range of motion, maintaining constant tension on the pectoral muscles. This partial range technique is effective for developing inner chest activation and improving the mind-muscle connection.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat
  • Extend your arms out to the sides at shoulder height, palms facing up, with a slight bend in the elbows
  • With control, bring both arms up and across the centerline of your chest, squeezing the pectorals
  • Stop when your hands meet above your chest rather than continuing past the midline
  • Slowly lower your arms back out to the starting position, maintaining tension in the chest
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
