About this exercise

The glute bridge with abduction combines a hip bridge with an outward knee push to strengthen the glutes while activating the hip abductors and improving hip mobility.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Optionally loop a resistance band around your thighs just above the knees
  • Drive through your heels and lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees
  • At the top, push your knees outward to abduct your hips while keeping your feet planted
  • Bring your knees back together, then lower your hips under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
