About this exercise

The glute bridge abduction against wall combines a glute bridge with a hip abduction press into the wall, activating the glutes and hip abductors simultaneously. Using the wall as resistance adds a unique isometric-like challenge to the outer glutes and thigh muscles.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back close to a wall with your feet flat on the wall and knees bent at approximately 90 degrees
  • Press through your heels to lift your hips off the floor into a full glute bridge
  • While maintaining the bridge, drive both knees outward pressing your feet into the wall in an abduction motion
  • Hold the abducted position briefly, feeling the tension in your outer glutes and hips
  • Return your knees back to the starting position and lower your hips back to the floor with control
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
