About this exercise

The front plank with twist is a core exercise performed from a forearm plank position in which the hips rotate alternately toward the floor on each side. It emphasizes the obliques while maintaining anti-rotation tension through the core.

How to Perform

  • Get into a forearm plank position with elbows directly under your shoulders and your body forming a straight line from head to heels
  • Engage your core and keep your hips level as your starting position
  • Rotate your hips to the right, lowering them toward the floor without touching it
  • Return to the neutral plank position, then rotate your hips to the left in the same manner
  • Continue alternating sides in a controlled rhythm
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions per side
