About this exercise

The Front Plank to Toe Tap is a dynamic, rotational core exercise performed from a high plank on your hands. You alternately reach one hand across your body to tap the toes of the opposite foot, challenging the abs, obliques, and shoulder stability while resisting rotation and keeping the hips level.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank with your hands under your shoulders and your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Brace your core and squeeze your glutes to keep your hips level
  • Lift your right hand off the floor and rotate your torso as you draw your left foot forward, reaching across to tap the toes of your left foot with your right hand
  • Return your hand and foot to the plank position under control
  • Repeat on the other side, tapping your right toes with your left hand
  • Continue alternating sides in a controlled rhythm for the desired number of reps
