About this exercise

The frog reverse hyperextension tap on floor is a glute-focused variation performed prone on a hyperextension bench. The legs are held in a frog position — knees bent outward with heels together — and the feet tap the floor at the bottom of each rep before being driven back up. The frog leg position maximises glute activation and reduces hamstring dominance.

How to Perform

  • Lie face-down on the hyperextension bench with your hips at the pad's edge and your upper body supported
  • Bend your knees and open them outward into a frog position, keeping your heels together
  • Lower your legs until your feet lightly tap the floor
  • Squeeze your glutes to lift your legs back up until they are parallel to the floor or slightly above
  • Hold the top position briefly to maximise glute contraction
  • Lower your feet in a controlled manner back to the tap position and repeat
