About this exercise

A standing forward fold that deeply stretches the lower back, hamstrings, and thoracic spine. Allowing the torso to hang relaxes the spinal erectors and relieves tension accumulated from daily activities or training.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and a soft bend in your knees
  • Hinge at the hips and slowly lower your torso toward the floor, letting your arms hang freely
  • Relax your neck, allowing your head to drop fully
  • Feel the stretch along your lower back and the backs of your legs
  • Hold the position for the desired duration, breathing deeply into the stretch
  • To release, engage your core and slowly roll back up to standing, vertebra by vertebra
