About this exercise

A bodyweight plyometric drill that rapidly alternates stepping one foot forward and then backward, training foot speed, coordination, and cardiovascular conditioning. It is commonly used as an agility warm-up or athletic conditioning exercise.

How to Perform

  • Stand in a shoulder-width athletic stance with knees slightly bent and weight on the balls of your feet
  • Quickly step one foot forward, immediately followed by the same foot stepping back to its original position
  • Repeat the forward-backward motion as fast as possible while maintaining control
  • Keep your arms relaxed and swinging naturally to help with rhythm and balance
  • Stay light on your feet and avoid flat-footed landings throughout the drill
  • Continue for the designated time, alternating the leading foot each interval if desired
