About this exercise

A seated cardio exercise where you mimic a running motion while sitting on a chair, alternating legs rapidly as if sprinting in place. It elevates the heart rate and engages the core and hip flexors with minimal joint impact.

How to Perform

  • Sit toward the front edge of a sturdy chair with your back straight and hands lightly gripping the sides of the seat
  • Lift both feet slightly off the floor and begin alternating your legs in a fast running motion
  • Drive each knee upward toward your chest and extend the opposite leg forward, mimicking a sprint stride
  • Keep your core braced and your upper body relatively still
  • Continue at a steady or increasing pace for the desired duration
