About this exercise

The Incline Twisting Sit-up (version 2) is an abdominal exercise performed on a declined bench that combines a full sit-up with a rotational twist at the top. The incline position increases the range of motion and load on the abs, while the rotation targets the obliques.

How to Perform

  • Hook your feet under the foot pads of the incline sit-up bench and lie back
  • Cross your arms over your chest or place your hands behind your head
  • Engage your core and curl your torso upward from the hips
  • As you approach the top, rotate your upper body to one side, bringing your elbow toward the opposite knee
  • Slowly lower yourself back to the start under control
  • Alternate the twist direction each rep or perform all reps to one side before switching
