About this exercise

An isometric neck flexion exercise that builds neck strength by pressing your fist upward against your chin while your neck muscles resist the force. The isometric hold promotes neuromuscular activation and endurance in the deep cervical flexors.

How to Perform

  • Stand or sit upright with your spine in a neutral position
  • Make a fist with one or both hands and position your knuckles firmly under your chin
  • Push your fist upward into your chin while simultaneously pressing your chin down into your fist
  • Hold the isometric contraction for a few seconds, breathing steadily throughout
  • Relax briefly, then repeat for the desired number of reps
