About this exercise

A gentle mobility exercise that takes the ankle through its full rotational range of motion to loosen the surrounding ligaments, tendons, and lower-leg muscles. It helps improve ankle flexibility, reduce stiffness, and warm up the feet before training or activity.

How to Perform

  • Sit on a chair or bench and lift one foot off the floor, or stand on one leg for a balance challenge
  • Point your toes slightly and begin rotating your foot in a slow, large circle at the ankle
  • Complete the full arc — moving the ankle through inward, upward, outward, and downward positions
  • Perform the desired number of rotations in one direction, then reverse the direction
  • Switch to the other foot and repeat the same number of rotations in each direction
  • Keep the movement smooth and controlled throughout, feeling a light stretch around the ankle
