About this exercise

A tempo-contrast bodyweight core exercise where you explosively drive up through the sit-up and then resist gravity with a slow, controlled lowering phase. This technique maximizes time under tension on the abdominals and builds both explosive strength and muscular endurance simultaneously.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Cross your arms over your chest or place your hands lightly behind your head
  • Explosively contract your abs to sit up as fast as possible
  • Pause briefly at the top position
  • Slowly lower your torso back to the starting position over 3–4 seconds
  • Keep your core engaged throughout and repeat without fully relaxing between reps
