About this exercise

The EZ Barbell Stiff Legged Deadlift is a hamstring-focused hip hinge movement using an EZ-bar with minimal knee bend throughout the lift. The curved grip reduces wrist and forearm strain compared to a straight barbell while maintaining full tension on the hamstrings and glutes.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart and hold the EZ-bar at the inner curves with an overhand grip
  • Set a slight, soft bend in the knees and maintain a neutral spine
  • Hinge forward at the hips, lowering the bar along the front of your legs until you feel a deep stretch in the hamstrings
  • Keep the bar close to your shins and thighs throughout the descent
  • Drive your hips forward and return to standing, squeezing the glutes and hamstrings at the top
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
