About this exercise

A unilateral forearm isolation exercise using one end of an EZ barbell with a neutral (hammer) grip while standing. The neutral wrist position reduces strain on the wrist joint while effectively loading the wrist flexors and brachioradialis.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright and grip one end of an EZ barbell with one hand using a neutral grip (thumb pointing up)
  • Let your arm hang at your side or rest your forearm on your thigh for stability
  • Keeping your upper arm stationary, curl your wrist upward by flexing at the wrist joint
  • Squeeze the forearm flexors at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the barbell back down to the starting position with full wrist extension
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other arm
