EZ Bar Standing Preacher Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the EZ Bar Standing Preacher Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The EZ barbell standing preacher curl uses the angled grip of an EZ bar and the preacher bench pad while standing, eliminating shoulder involvement and keeping the biceps under constant tension throughout the curl. The EZ bar reduces wrist strain compared to a straight bar.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing the preacher bench and rest the backs of your upper arms flat on the angled pad
  • Grip the EZ barbell with an underhand grip on the inner angled section, arms nearly fully extended
  • Brace your core and keep your upper arms pressed firmly against the pad throughout the set
  • Curl the barbell upward by flexing your elbows, bringing the bar toward your chin
  • Squeeze your biceps at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the bar back to the starting position until your arms are nearly straight
  • Avoid rocking or lifting your elbows off the pad
