About this exercise

The EZ barbell seated triceps extension is an isolation exercise that targets the triceps by lowering an EZ bar behind the head while seated. The angled grip of the EZ bar reduces wrist strain compared to a straight bar, making it a comfortable choice for overhead triceps work.

How to Perform

  • Sit on a bench with your feet flat on the floor and hold an EZ barbell with an overhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart
  • Press the bar overhead until your arms are fully extended and the bar is directly above your head
  • Brace your core and keep your upper arms vertical and close to your head throughout the movement
  • Slowly lower the bar behind your head by bending at the elbows until your forearms are roughly parallel to the floor
  • Pause briefly at the bottom, then extend your elbows to press the bar back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
