About this exercise

The Elevated Push-Up is a bodyweight chest exercise performed with the hands placed on an elevated surface such as a step or bench, creating an incline angle. This position shifts emphasis to the lower chest fibers and makes the movement more accessible than a standard push-up, making it an excellent progression for beginners.

How to Perform

  • Place your hands on an elevated surface slightly wider than shoulder-width apart
  • Step your feet back until your body forms a straight line from head to heels
  • Engage your core and keep your hips level throughout the movement
  • Lower your chest toward the elevated surface by bending your elbows
  • Pause briefly when your chest nearly touches the surface
  • Push back up to the starting position by extending your arms fully
