About this exercise

A beginner-friendly variation of the mountain climber where hands rest on a chair seat instead of the floor, reducing the angle and making the movement more accessible. The elevated position decreases upper-body load while still engaging the core and promoting cardiovascular conditioning.

How to Perform

  • Place your hands shoulder-width apart on the seat of a sturdy chair and extend your legs behind you into an incline plank position
  • Brace your core and keep your hips level with your shoulders
  • Drive your right knee toward your chest, then quickly switch and drive your left knee forward
  • Continue alternating legs in a controlled running motion
  • Keep your back flat and avoid letting your hips rise or sag throughout the movement
  • Maintain a steady pace for the duration of the set
