About this exercise

A standing bodyweight side bend that involves bending laterally to bring the ear toward the knee, creating a deep stretch and contraction through the obliques and lateral torso. It combines range of motion work with light oblique activation.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Shift your weight slightly to one side and raise the opposite arm overhead
  • Slowly bend your torso sideways, reaching your raised arm and ear down toward the knee on that side
  • Pause at the bottom to feel the stretch along the opposite side of your torso
  • Engage your obliques to return to an upright position in a controlled manner
  • Repeat for the desired reps, then switch sides
