About this exercise

Dynamic Weight-Bearing Ankle Dorsiflexion is a mobility drill that improves the range of motion of the ankle joint by repeatedly driving the knee forward over the foot while keeping the heel flat on the floor. Performing it with body weight through the foot challenges the ankle under load, making the mobility gains more transferable to squats, lunges, and athletic movement.

How to Perform

  • Stand facing a wall, placing your fingertips lightly on it for balance
  • Step one foot close to the wall, heel flat on the floor, with the toes pointing straight ahead
  • Drive your knee forward toward the wall, tracking over your toes, without lifting the heel
  • Try to touch the wall with your knee while keeping the heel firmly grounded
  • Return the knee to the start position and repeat for the desired reps
  • Switch to the other foot and perform the same number of repetitions
