About this exercise

A dynamic mobility drill that moves the spine through flexion and extension in a controlled, rhythmic manner to warm up and loosen the back muscles. It improves spinal range of motion and reduces stiffness before training or between sets.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with hands beneath shoulders and knees beneath hips
  • Inhale and arch your lower back downward, lifting your chest and tailbone toward the ceiling (cow position)
  • Exhale and round your entire spine upward, tucking your chin and pelvis (cat position)
  • Flow smoothly between both positions at a steady tempo
  • Keep your core lightly engaged and your movements controlled throughout
