The Dumbbell Wood Chop Squat is a compound functional exercise that combines a deep squat with a diagonal chopping motion, holding a single dumbbell with both hands. It simultaneously trains the core, obliques, and lower body, making it effective for rotational strength and full-body conditioning.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell with both hands at one side of your body
  • Lower into a squat while bringing the dumbbell down toward the outside of your knee
  • Drive through your heels to stand up explosively while sweeping the dumbbell diagonally across your body and up toward the opposite shoulder
  • Control the movement at the top before returning to the squat position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching, or alternate each rep
