Dumbbell Standing One-Arm Concentration Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Dumbbell Standing One-Arm Concentration Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The dumbbell standing one-arm concentration curl isolates the biceps of a single arm by bracing the back of the upper arm against the inner thigh in a standing bent-over position. This strict setup eliminates swinging and directs maximum tension to the biceps peak.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width apart and hinge forward at the hips
  • Hold a dumbbell in the working hand with the back of that upper arm pressed firmly against your inner thigh
  • Let the dumbbell hang with your palm facing upward
  • Curl the dumbbell upward toward your shoulder in a controlled arc without letting your elbow drift away from your thigh
  • Squeeze the biceps firmly at the top of the movement
  • Lower the dumbbell slowly and fully under control, then complete all reps before switching arms
