Dumbbell Standing Concentration Curl

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Dumbbell Standing Concentration Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

The dumbbell standing concentration curl isolates the biceps by performing a curl with the working arm braced against the inner thigh while standing in a bent-over position. This bracing removes momentum and places peak tension directly on the biceps throughout the full range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width apart and hinge forward slightly at the hips
  • Hold a dumbbell in one hand and press the back of that upper arm against your inner thigh for support
  • Let the dumbbell hang at arm's length with palm facing upward
  • Curl the dumbbell upward toward your shoulder in a slow, controlled arc
  • Squeeze the biceps hard at the top, then lower the dumbbell fully under control
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching sides
