The dumbbell standing biceps curl is a fundamental upper-arm exercise that trains both heads of the biceps by curling a dumbbell in each hand simultaneously. Standing upright removes external support, requiring the core to stabilise the torso throughout.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand with arms fully extended and palms facing forward
  • Keep your upper arms pinned against your sides and your chest tall
  • Curl both dumbbells upward toward your shoulders in a controlled arc
  • Squeeze the biceps at the top of the movement
  • Lower the dumbbells slowly back to the starting position under control
