About this exercise

A compound movement where you hold a squat position while performing calf raises, simultaneously challenging calf strength, quad endurance, and balance. Holding a dumbbell in each hand adds resistance and increases the stability demand.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart holding a dumbbell in each hand
  • Lower into a squat until your thighs are parallel to the floor and hold this position
  • While maintaining the squat, raise your heels as high as possible onto the balls of your feet
  • Hold briefly at the top, then slowly lower your heels back to the floor
  • Repeat the calf raises without rising out of the squat position
