About this exercise

A functional loaded carry in which one dumbbell is held fully overhead while walking. The overhead position demands shoulder stability, thoracic extension, and strong core bracing to keep the torso upright against the unilateral load.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall holding a dumbbell in one hand, press it directly overhead until the arm is fully extended
  • Lock the elbow and pack the shoulder — keep the working arm vertical throughout
  • Brace the core firmly to resist lateral lean caused by the offset load
  • Walk forward with controlled, even steps for the prescribed distance or time
  • At the end of the set, lower the dumbbell safely and switch arms
  • Keep your gaze forward and avoid tilting the head toward the weighted side
