About this exercise

A chest fly variation performed lying on a flat bench, alternating one arm at a time with a single dumbbell. It targets the pectoral muscles by allowing each side to work independently through a wide arc, promoting balanced chest development and improved unilateral strength.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on a bench holding a dumbbell in one hand, arm extended above your chest with a slight bend in the elbow
  • Lower the dumbbell out to the side in a smooth arc until your arm is roughly parallel to the floor
  • Squeeze your chest and raise the dumbbell back to the starting position in a controlled arc
  • Switch the dumbbell to the other hand and repeat the movement
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
  • Keep your core braced and feet flat on the floor throughout the set
