About this exercise

A challenging isometric and dynamic combination exercise where you hold dumbbells locked out overhead in a military press position while performing alternating leg raises seated on the floor. The overhead hold creates constant shoulder and core tension while the alternating leg raises challenge lower abdominal stability.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor holding a dumbbell in each hand pressed overhead to full lockout, arms straight
  • Lean back slightly to engage your core and lift both feet just off the floor
  • Keep the dumbbells locked overhead and raise one leg higher while lowering the other
  • Alternate raising and lowering each leg in a controlled scissor-like motion
  • Maintain the overhead dumbbell position throughout the entire set without dropping your arms
  • Keep your lower back stable and avoid excessive arching throughout the movement
