About this exercise

A seated overhead triceps extension performed on a bench, using a single dumbbell held with both hands. The movement isolates the triceps through a full overhead stretch and contraction, making it effective for building upper arm mass.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a bench and grasp one end of a dumbbell with both hands, palms pressing against the inner plate
  • Lift the dumbbell overhead with arms extended, keeping elbows close to your head
  • Lower the dumbbell behind your head by bending at the elbows until you feel a full stretch in the triceps
  • Extend your arms back overhead to the starting position, squeezing the triceps at the top
  • Keep your core braced and avoid flaring the elbows outward
  • Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions
